In February 2024, ISO released an immediate, mandatory amendment requiring all certified organizations to determine the relevance of climate change to their QMS (Clauses 4.1 & 4.2). There is no transition period; auditors are checking for this in current surveillance and recertification audits. Don’t panic — compliance doesn’t require a massive overhaul. ISO 9001:2026 was officially published on September 16, 2026, the first major revision to the standard in over a decade. Current Transition Timeline

• September 16, 2026: ISO 9001:2026 officially published.
• March 30, 2028: Deadline for new ISO 9001:2015 certifications. After this date, PJR will only be able to issue new certifications against ISO 9001:2026.
• September 30, 2029: Final deadline for all ISO 9001:2015 audit activity, including surveillance and recertification audits on existing certificates. Every certificate must transition to ISO 9001:2026 by this date, regardless of when it was originally issued.
