ISO 9001

The 2024 Climate Change Amendment is Active
In February 2024, ISO issued an immediate, mandatory amendment requiring all certified organisations to determine whether climate change is relevant to their QMS (Clauses 4.1 and 4.2). There is no transition period; auditors are already checking for this during current surveillance and recertification audits. There is no need to worry – compliance does not require a major overhaul. Perry Johnson Certifications experienced auditors are already helping clients understand this requirement so they can clear their audits without unnecessary pressure.
What Is ISO 9001?
In today’s fast-moving business environment, consistent quality is not optional – it is a strategic advantage. ISO 9001 is the foundational international standard that sets out the framework for a robust Quality Management System (QMS).
Whether you are a large manufacturer, a growing service provider or a non-profit organisation, ISO 9001 helps you consistently meet customer and regulatory requirements while streamlining workflows and reducing errors. By implementing ISO 9001, you gain more than a certificate – you build a culture of continual improvement that supports long-term performance.
Why Pursue ISO 9001 Certification?
- Greater Customer Confidence: Show your customers that quality is central to the way your organisation works.
- More Efficient Operations: Remove duplication, improve consistency and reduce avoidable errors.
- Stronger Supply Chain Resilience: Make sure your processes are better prepared for modern disruptions and changing customer needs.
- Support for ESG Objectives: Align quality practices more easily with environmental and sustainability priorities.
- Access to New Business Opportunities: Qualify for public- and private-sector tenders that require ISO 9001 certification.
- Proactive Risk Management: Move from reactive problem-solving to a more preventive and systematic approach.
Preparing for the Future: The ISO 9001:2026 Transition Hub
The ISO 9001 standard is evolving. Are you prepared for 2026? As a leading certification body, Perry Johnson Certifications is here to help make your transition smooth, practical and valuable for your business.
In autumn 2026, the International Organization for Standardization is expected to publish ISO 9001:2026, the first major revision to the world’s most widely used quality standard in more than a decade. While the core structure will remain familiar, the 2026 update is expected to introduce important new requirements covering quality culture, ethical behaviour, digitalisation and a clearer distinction between risks and opportunities. It will also permanently incorporate the mandatory 2024 Climate Change Amendment.
Do Not Wait to Get Certified: If your organisation is not yet certified, there is no reason to postpone certification until the new standard is released. Organisations that achieve ISO 9001:2015 certification now will build a strong foundation for the future and can upgrade during a routine surveillance audit. Waiting simply means missing out on the benefits of more efficient operations and new business opportunities.
The transition timeline at a glance:
- Autumn 2026: Expected publication of ISO 9001:2026.
- Autumn 2026 to Autumn 2029 (the three-year transition window): Organisations are expected to have a three-year period to update their Quality Management Systems. Perry Johnson Certifications auditors will work with you to plan the transition as part of your normal audit cycle.
- September 2029: All ISO 9001:2015 certificates are expected to expire.
